Here We Lay in a Beam of Bright Light, Our Hands Buried Deep in the Earth, 2021

Here We Lay in a Beam of Bright Light, Our Hands Buried Deep in the Earth is a project and exhibition made in collaboration with Florence Pin. This work was created during Art Souterrain’s Créer des ponts artist residency.

This multidisciplinary project combines photography, installation, ceramics, textiles, and alternative printing processes. It departs from a consideration of our relationship with the earth, observing the coexistence of living and non-living organisms, different cycles of change and growth in nature, and cycles of life and death. For this project, we focused on the sustainable development of our practices and studied the materiality of what could be found in our environment, often working with natural or recycled resources.

The work I created as part of Here We Lay grew from research into sustainability studies and ancient Italian witchcraft, both of which reimagine relationships with the natural world as more thoughtful, more empathetic, and slower.
